Getting started with Draftly
Draftly takes you from an address to an approval-ready set of documents, in plain steps. You enter where you're building and what you have in mind, and Draftly researches your site, helps you place your build, checks it against the planning rules, and prepares a set you can lodge with council.
What you need to begin
Just an address is enough to start. If you'd rather answer two quick questions about your project, or you have existing documents — a planning notice, a sketch, or drawings — you can start with those instead.
The three ways to start
From the home screen you can begin in whichever way suits you:
- Address — enter the street address of the site, for example
14 Acacia St, Brunswick VIC 3056. - Guided — answer two quick questions: where you're up to (just starting, have a layout, or have engineering done) and what you're building. Draftly routes you to the right starting point from your answers.
- Upload — drop in a planning notice, a sketch, or existing drawings and Draftly will read what it can from them.
Once you've added an address, answered the two questions, or chosen a document, select Start and Draftly routes you into the first step with your details already carried through.

Not ready to type your address yet? The home page includes a guided tour that walks through the full Draftly workflow — from entering an address, through site research, the planning rules, placing your build, engineering, drawings, and the finished submission pack. Every frame in the tour is real output from a real project, not a mock-up. It plays on its own; hover or tap it to pause, and use the arrows or dots to move between steps at your own pace.
Do I need an account?
You can begin as a guest and only sign in when you want to save your work or come back to it later. Draftly is free to use while you explore — you only pay when you're ready to download or print your finished documents.
What happens next
