The site research steps, one by one
The site research part of Draftly walks you through a short sequence. Each step builds on the one before it.
1. Address and project
Tell Draftly where you're building and what you're building. This sets up everything that follows.
2. Site research
Draftly gathers your zone, overlays, real lot boundary and controls from government sources and shows you exactly what it found. See Site research.
3. Siting
Place your structure on your actual lot. You can also mark easements, stormwater and existing buildings directly on the map, so the placement reflects the real site. See Placing your build on the lot.
4. Compliance
Draftly tests your design against the verified planning rules and flags anything that needs your attention before you go further. See Approval pathways.
5. Submission package
You finish with a lodgement-ready document set and your approval pathway, ready for council. See Your submission package.

When you visit the lot, the 4 Realms capture flow is the companion to these steps: it records what exists, how new work ties in, and what the next professional needs — photos, notes and all — and hands it to the drawing step as a package.
