Starting a new job
A job is a single project on a single site — the address, the build you have in mind, and everything Draftly prepares for it.
Three ways to start
You can begin in whichever way suits where you're up to:
- Address — the quickest start. Enter the street address and Draftly finds the lot and its planning details.
- Guided — answer two quick questions (where you're up to, and what you're building) and Draftly routes you to the right starting point.
- Upload — add a planning notice, a sketch, or existing drawings, and Draftly reads what it can from them to get you going.
You only need one of these to begin. The Start button becomes available as soon as you've added an address, answered the two questions, or chosen a document.
Entering an address
Type the full street address, including the suburb, state and postcode where you can, for example 14 Acacia St, Brunswick VIC 3056. If a unit or lot number applies, include it. Draftly then shows you the matched lot so you can confirm it's the right one.
Starting more than one job
Each job is separate, so you can have several on the go — for example a different structure on the same property, or projects at different addresses. Signed-in users can see and reopen their jobs at any time. See Your projects.
If the address isn't found
If an address doesn't match, check the spelling and that the suburb, state and postcode are correct. You can also start with a description instead, or place the site manually. If your state isn't yet covered for automatic planning data, Draftly lets you enter the details by hand — see Data and accuracy.
